What type of adhesive is used to bond new acrylic to the frames of these windows? I had new acrylic cut but have been reluctant to tear up the old windows until I am sure of the adhesive that is used to keep the ocean out.
It appears that the original windows were composed of a fixed piece of acrylic bonded to an internal aluminum frame. Full external force on the window is held by the adhesive; seems like a questionable design. Any suggestions?

We also purchased new acrylic but have yet to install it as we are installing cork nonskid currently. The adhesive recommended by the company where we purchased the acrylic is ASI MP 55310. Their website is www.instantca.com. Jan |

Thanks for the reply, I'll do some research. I've also had CRL Polyurethane Construction Sealant recommended by a glass business, but am reluctant to try it without confimation from users. _________________ 1985 Endeavour 42 - "Charade" |

I also am planning on replacing, or at least re sealing the aft fixed window on the port side of my E42. I have the inner frame out, but am reluctant to take out the rest of the window....afraid I'll bend the outer frame.
What type of sealant was used in the original installation? We had a storm a few days ago and got 6.5" of rain in 5 hrs and had a huge leak. Any info on taking out the window would be helpful.
Thanks,
Phil S/V Katash
