I am working with a sailmaker. He is constructing a racing 155 roller furling headsail and he wants me to put a backstay adjuster on my E32. I don't like his suggestion of a "Y" with a plate and the Y terminating in eye-bolts at the transmon corners. He's thinking about bending the mast approx 1 inch.
I'm thinking about a Witchard lever backstay adjuster to tighten up in heavy air and upwind and ease in light air and downwind. I don't see me or my crew "playing" the sheet for a backstay adjuster as we get powerboat wake, like a J-24.
Please let me know your experience and or comments.
