Taveler moved forward to coach house for an E-32

I just got an E-32. 1980 model which has been well maintained and lots of up-grades.

One thing about the original set up on the E-32's is the traveler. I would prefer to move it from the cockpit  to the coach house. Has anyone tried this on a E-32.

Any opinions on this subject would be greatly appreciated.

I prefer to sail slow and live fast!

Ours was in the cockpit at the companionway. We never moved ours but I know that a few owners did move it to the coach roof. There are tradeoffs---by moving it you tend to give up the ability to trim the main as effectively and if not attached to the boom correctly risk breaking the boom. You will need at least 3 attachment points on the boom to spread the load. One other thing is you will find it harder to trim due to less leverage so everything will need to be oversized---especially compared to what you currently have. Also whoever is driving the boat probably won't be able to trim the main since it is being moved forward.

Although it was sometimes in the way, I left it in the cockpit for that reason alone because it gave me more options.
