Holding TankI have a 1980 E37 that is missing the holding tank (as well as the water tank, thanks to prior owner's zealous disassembly and apparent plans to upgrade) and I don't have a diagram to tell me where the original one was supposed to be located? When I bought the boat, I got a giant plastic holding tank of about 30-40 gallons that literally fits nowhere that I can find. It was made by Ronco and has a number like B106 on it. I know the OEM tank was 15 gallons. Where was it installed? Also, where was the original water tank? Immediately forward of the fuel tank that I had to have made, too? Or is that supposed to be open bilge space? We have a great time sailing, but lack of fresh water and "facilities" sort of limits our use to short trips!. Thanks for any help you can give.

I don't own an E37 and there were several layouts but the plumbing diagram in the owners manual shows that the holding tank was located under the port side aft bunk. The water tank is shown to be located just forward of the fuel tank.

holding tankI have a 78 E37, the holding tank is an 18 gallon plastic tank. It is located under the port berth in the v berth.

Call Florida Marine Tanks at (305) 620-9030. They have the blueprints for the fresh water tank on file. If you also decide to replace the fill hose, make sure you put a messenger line on it when you pull it out. Don't ask me why I know this.
A 15 gallon holding tank is about the biggest you'll be able to get in there.

I would add that some owners have installed 'flexible' holding tanks which enabled them to increase holding capacity. I'm not a fan of doing this because of the increased potential of leaks. Having a holding tank fail is not something you want to experience.
I believe that Florida Marine Tanks was the supplier for the fuel and water tanks on Endeavours. Kracor was listed as the supplier of the holding tanks but any quality holding tank would work. If you can fit an 18 gallon tank, I'd opt for that.

larger holding tankI have a 37 A plan, 1980 vintage. Ragtime has Florida Marine aluminum fuel and water tanks in the bilge, a plastic holding tank under the port quarter berth. The fuel is a 50 gal tank just forward of the engine, the water 100 gal extending from the fuel tank forward nearly to the mast. When we bought her, the water tank had 3 inches of crud, one cleanout port, and two baffels separating the tank into three sections. I work in a metalworking plant, so i was able to make 2 laser cut aluminum lids, cut holes in the tank top, clean out all the crud and close it up. You can do the same, perhaps not with laser precision, with heavy aluminum sheet from Home de-pot or Lowes. Match drill and mark location of one screw, so you don't go nuts trying to put it back in the same place after removal! I replaced the 16 gallon holding tank with a 24 gallon plastic tank under the berth, which I purchased from West Marine. I had to make new openings in the berth and relocate a bulkhead, but I pump less often now. If the berth opening is less than perfect, no problem - matress covers it. Best thing I did was a warning light tells me tank is near full; kit from WM.
