BilgeI have a 1984 Endeavour 35. There are 3 sections to the "shallow bilge" which then drains to the deep bilge where the bilge pump is located. Water from rain etc coming in via the mast drains into the shallow bilge. But it accumulates there (maybe an inch deep) before draining to the next section, etc and eventually if enough accumulates it drains to the deep bilge. But this results in standing water that eventually gets gross accumulating in this shallow bilge region. Has anyone else had this problem?
I have been thinking of using a drummel to create a groove that would allow the water to drain directly to the deep bilge and thus avoid accumulation. I might have to cut a 1 inch groove. My question is whether there is sufficient solid glass under this shallow bilge region so that there is no risk penetrating to the keel.

Have you considered boat trim  ? our 42 had this problem some what and I discovered the Previous Owner had the boat trimmed bow down.

standing water in bilgeThank you - that is an interesting suggestion and I had not thought of it because it does not seem to be down at the bow. I have two anchors at the bow, but neither is oversize. Both have chain leads but each only about 6 feet. So, it did not cross my mind that the bow would be down. I will look more carefully.

You ight simply used water cans on the stern to see how much it would take to riase the bow. I have 300 ft of chain along with the two anchors and line and lots of junk hehe so the Davits and Dinghy have double duty
Might be a good excuse to use on your wife that you need davits and digny to balance the boat hehe:)

BilgeThanks for the suggestions. I will give it a try. Adding weight that is. We had to have the engine rebuilt this summer so the amount of $$ that went into the hole in the water this year precludes davits, etc.
